Ram Bagh , laid out by Babur in 1528 and probably the first pleasure garden of its kind, is just a few kilometres north of Chini-ka-rauza. Reputedly the resting place of Babur's body before it was taken to Kabul, the garden is now dilapidated and overgrown, and only a few tattered columns and walls remain of the stone pavilions that once sheltered the royal family. Its original name, Aram Bagh (Garden of Rest), was corrupted to Ram, after the Hindu god.
